Who are they?

100 Men Who Give a Damn is a grassroots organization that is helping change the world – one city at a time. Started as an offshoot of 100 Women Who Care, 100 Men seeks to help those services and institutions in our communities that help those that need it. The selfish side of this – if there is one – is that during the quarterly meetings we get a chance to network. And network in a pool we might not be able to otherwise.

Why did I join?

My step-mother is the person who first told me about them. She is a member of the 100 Women Who Care in Burlington. I liked that I was able to help make a difference in my community with low-time commitment.

Why did I join?

My Uncle John first told me about the Optimist Club as he was a member at the time. I have always considered myself an optimist and felt connected to their philosophy and their promise. When I ran the Saint Mary Marching Arts program we started every rehearsal by everyone saying the Optimist Creed together.

Who are they?

The Royal Canadian Legion is a non-profit Canadian ex-service organization founded in 1925. Membership includes people who have served as military, Royal Canadian Mounted Police, provincial and municipal police, Royal Canadian Air, Army, and Sea Cadets, direct relatives of members, and also affiliated members.

Our mission is to serve Veterans, including serving military and RCMP members and their families, to promote Remembrance, and to serve our communities and our country.

Why did I join?

There are two main reasons who I joined the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 36 in Dundas, Ontario. The first reason was I remember the Legion is Branford was the main supporter of St. Johns Drum and Bugle Corps and the fact that Drums Corps were created my Legions way back in the day. My other reason is I wanted my membership in the Legion to be connected to my Grandfather's service in World War II.

Who are they?

Make-A-Wish creates life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. We are on a quest to bring every eligible child's wish to life because a wish is an integral part of a child's treatment journey. Research shows children who have wishes granted can build the physical and emotional strength they need to fight a critical illness. Headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona, Make-A-Wish is the world’s leading children’s wish-granting organization, serving children in every community in Canada, and in more than 50 countries worldwide.

Since 1983, Make-A-Wish Canada has granted over 36,000 wishes across the country, over 1,000 last year alone.

Why did I join?

It has been a goal of mine to become a Wish Granter. It is a position I would find great value

in, and until my dream of becoming a Wish Granter happens I will keep trying and raising money.
